Kentucky Democratic Party’s Statement on Trump Visit

FRANKFORT, Ky. (March 20, 2017) – Today the Kentucky Democratic Party released the following statement on President Donald Trump’s visit to Kentucky:

“People here in Kentucky and across the nation have every reason to be upset and protest the Trump administration’s actions,” said Rep. Sannie Overly, chair of the Kentucky Democratic Party. “President Trump’s health care plan turns back Medicaid expansion that has provided coverage for about 440,000 Kentuckians, all while providing large tax cuts for corporations and the wealthy. President Trump’s budget eliminates public services and anti-poverty programs, such as Meals on Wheels, which allows many low-income seniors to stay in their homes. Simply put, the president is taking actions that will hurt millions of people — and only help the wealthy few.”

The Kentucky Democratic Party is comprised of more than 1.68 million registered Democrats who support issues that enhance the fair treatment of all Kentuckians. Visit for more information.
