State Central Executive Committee Approves Call to 2012 State Convention

Clearing the way for the final stages of the Kentucky Democratic Party’s reorganization process and selection of delegates to the Democratic National Convention, the KDP’s State Central Executive Committee approved a call [PDF] for the organization’s 2012 State Convention on Monday. The convention will take place in Louisville, KY on June 2nd at the Kentucky Fair and Expo Center.

Reminder - May 4th Deadline to File as Candidate to be Delegate to DNC Convention

As the June 2nd Kentucky State Democratic Convention approaches, the Kentucky Democratic Party is reminding Kentucky Democrats the deadline to file to run as a delegate to the 2012 Democratic National Convention is Friday, May 4th. Any Kentucky Democrat wishing to run as a delegate to the DNC Convention, being held in Charlotte, NC the week of September 3rd, is required to submit a completed Statement of Candidacy.

We’d like to offer a sincere “Thank You” to all the Kentucky Democrats who turned out last Saturday to take part in their Precinct Elections. As you know, the Precinct Elections are the first step in the Party’s reorganization process and Saturday was a great success. We had a lot of great Kentucky Democrats turnout in every part of the state and it looks like the reorganization of the Kentucky Democratic Party is off to a great start.

Barr’s Party Leaders Vote For Millionaires Over Medicare

Voters rejected last year Andy Barr and his plan to end Medicare while giving tax breaks to millionaire companies and billionaires. Today, Andy Barr’s party leaders in Washington showed their true priorities once again — voting for the Republican budget that chooses millionaires over Medicare.

The AARP has warned that the “proposal is likely to simply increase costs for beneficiaries while removing Medicare’s promise of secure health coverage,” while the Brookings Tax Policy Center showed that people making over $1 million per year would get a $394,000 tax cut.
