Women for Team Mitch: McConnell Hopes Cheap Stunt Will Hide His Abysmal Record
Today, Senator Mitch McConnell is trumpeting the few dozen women in Kentucky who still support him. However, a cheap political trick will not distract women in Kentucky from “Leader” McConnell’s record of blocking legislation on equality, access to affordable healthcare and economic security.
"Senator McConnell has abandoned women time and time again over the course of his career, which makes today’s announcement so offensive, even for him,” said Kentucky Democratic Party Chairman Dan Logsdon. "This year alone, Senator McConnell has worked to roll back protections for victims of domestic violence; deny women health care; end equal pay protections; and threaten social security and Medicare.”
Don’t take our word for it – look at his history.
While claiming to be an advocate for women in the Commonwealth, Senator McConnell has routinely opposed common sense legislation directly benefiting Kentucky families. McConnell has opposed the Family and Medical Leave Act, The Paycheck Fairness Act, The Lily Ledbetter Act, and the Violence Against Women Act.
“This is a cynical political stunt by the most unpopular senator in America. Senator McConnell is desperately trying to distract voters from his real record. Fortunately, women in Kentucky – our mothers, sisters, wives and daughters – know the real Mitch McConnell and know of his abysmal record and utter disregard for issues directly affecting them and their families.”
