The architect of the radical Republican House budget, Ryan, like Romney, proposed an additional $250,000 tax cut for millionaires, and deep cuts in education from Head Start to college aid. His plan also would end Medicare as we know it by turning it into a voucher system, shifting thousands of dollars in health care costs to seniors. As a member of Congress, Ryan rubber-stamped the reckless Bush economic policies that exploded our deficit and crashed our economy. Now the Romney-Ryan ticket would take us back by repeating the same, catastrophic mistakes.

Key Point: According to nonpartisan tax experts, if Mitt Romney wants to pay for his budget-busting $5 trillion tax cuts for millionaires and billionaires, he’ll have to raise taxes by $2,000 on the average middle-class family with children.

Key Point: Mitt Romney refuses to release his tax returns because he doesn’t want the American people to know whether he’s taken advantage of foreign tax havens to avoid paying his fair share. His corporate tax plan would create 800,000 jobs overseas, which could come at the expense of American jobs. Romney believes in a tax system with two sets of rules – one for himself and others at the top, and another for everyone else.

Key Point: Mitt Romney is deliberately distorting President Obama’s words. The President has always believed in the drive and ingenuity of America’s entrepreneurs and workers. He believes we should stand behind them as we always have – by investing in education and training, rebuilding our roads and bridges and keeping our edge in research and technology. Mitt Romney would gut investments that help small businesses thrive.
